CG1 Bus Service to Resume

We are delighted to announce the return of CG1, Clyde Gateway’s local bus service delivered by JMB Travel, on Tuesday 21st July 2020. The service will initially run on a reduced timetable (8am – 6pm) until Monday 3rd August when normal service (6am – 7pm) will resume for the foreseeable future.

It remains an hourly service on Mondays to Fridays between Rutherglen and Carmyle via Shawfield, Bridgeton, Dalmarnock, Emirates Arena, and Clyde Gateway East. CG1 first came into operation in 2015 as part of a new Sustainable Transport Project, with support from a range of partners, including Transport Scotland and SPT but unfortunately due to Covid-19 service was suspended in March this year.

The bus will now operate at a reduced capacity in line with the Scottish Government’s recommended social distancing and users will be required to wear face coverings. Claire Ferguson, project manager at Clyde Gateway said “The CG1 bus service has become a very relied upon service for the Clyde Gateway community, carrying over 21,000 passengers a year. It links to locations where there is new and emerging employment opportunities within the area so I am thrilled to be able to get the bus will be back on the road.”

Jennifer Bell, Business Manager at JMB Travel said “The team at JMB Travel have implemented new hygiene measures to ensure the safety of our passengers and we are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back on board.”

The current contract with JMB Travel will expire in 2021 and Clyde Gateway is currently exploring funding opportunities for the continuation of this service.
